COURSE INFORMATION
INTRODUCTION
The Diploma of Sport/Diploma of Leadership and Management (SIS50321/BSB50420) is delivered through Richmond Football Club’s partnership with Swinburne University of Technology. This unique program is aimed at developing the next generation of leaders within the sports industry
This dual diploma combines theory, practical and hands-on learning with a focus on real world skills and knowledge. Students will learn how to enhance athlete performance, manage people and teams, and become a leader.
As a part of the course, students are encouraged to complete 100 hours of industry work placement. This work placement must be relevant to the content of the course.

Course Information
Industry Placements
The dedicated Careers & Pathways team are committed to providing real employment and placement opportunities. Students can select from a range of placements with Richmond Football Club, Aligned Leisure and our sports industry network to complete the required 100 hours of industry placement. Students will undertake HLTAID003 Provide First Aid.
On successful completion of the course, students may be eligible to apply for:
- Level 1 ASCA Strength & Conditioning Qualification
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate
- ASADA Level 1 & 2 Certificate
- Sport Australia Coaching Certificate
Students may receive training in Pool Lifeguard and Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualifications to enable them to undertake placement and employment opportunities.
Ambassadors & Guest Speakers

Athletic Development
Students participate in 90 minutes of practical athletic development each day. They work closely with experienced Strength & Conditioning coaches to improve their physical fitness. Students will each have a personalised program that takes into account their individual abilities, experiences and interests.
Practical Learning
The teaching team consists of highly skilled and experienced staff who use a variety of teaching styles and methods to engage students. Learning is hands-on, practical and related to real-world and industry contexts.
Student Success Team
The Student Success team supports individual student engagement and wellbeing throughout the course. Students are provided access to Swinburne’s many services, including their professional health and medical services. Students are also allocated a Student Success Mentor who provides support and care whilst helping students thrive and achieve success.
National & International Trips

Further Education
This is a nationally approved vocational course that is recognised throughout Australia.
Swinburne offers a range of undergraduate courses in Business and Exercise & Sport Science. Students who successfully complete the Dual Diploma may be eligible to progress into a related course or degree at Swinburne.
