Matthew O’Brien

Education Partnerships Officer
Matt is an Education Partnerships Officer at Richmond Institute, where he draws on his experience as a former student in the Dual Diploma program. With almost 200 hours of industry placement across event volunteering, disability support, AFL media, and youth coaching, Matt brings a broad skill set to his role. He is passionate about building strong relationships with potential students and highlighting all that Richmond Institute has to offer. Born and raised in Ballarat, Matt completed his VCE in 2023 and has a strong background in athletics, particularly sprinting, which has shaped much of his life and work ethic. He is also currently undertaking a Co-Head of Sport role in regional Victoria, further developing his leadership skills. Matt is qualified in First Aid and holds a Dual Diploma. His focus is on creating genuine connections with students, ensuring they feel supported and prepared for their future careers. In his spare time, Matt recently made the transition from the athletics track to completing his first half marathon—embracing new challenges and pushing his limits.
