As I approached the end of high school, I found myself feeling lost, unsure of my next steps as I moved into my future. However, my passion for sports is one which I have always had, driving my desire for a career in that field but I was left stumped on which area of the sporting industry I wanted to pursue. It was during this uncertain time that I stumbled upon Richmond Institute on social media. Intrigued, I explored further and realised that this course aligned perfectly with my ambitions. What really sets Richmond Institute apart from other studies is the institute’s offerings, including its commitment to providing enriching opportunities that extend beyond the classroom allowing us to broaden our horizons, form new connections, and dive into real-world experiences through industry placements. It truly seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.
My journey at Richmond Institute has truly been a remarkable experience. From day one, all the staff welcomed us with open arms, creating an environment where we could easily settle into our course and feel as though we belonged.
Through Richmond Institute, I’ve had the privilege of participating in industry placements that have expanded my network and provided invaluable hands-on experience. One of the most rewarding experiences has been my role as a fan engagement intern at the club, a unique opportunity facilitated by Richmond Institute. This role has allowed me to connect with a diverse array of people and gain an insider’s perspective on the behind-the-scenes operations of the club. It’s been truly incredible to witness first-hand the passion and dedication that goes into creating memorable experiences for fans, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
I have found the course to be extremely valuable in the way it has allowed me to work to discover where I have a passion in the sporting industry. Going into Richmond Institute I was not sure where exactly I wanted to go in the sporting industry, from personal training to events the scope of the sporting world is so wide. Through placements such as at ‘Run for the Kids and Richmond Fan Engagement, I have been able to discover that I have a true passion for working with others to help run events as well as in marketing. This is something which I have truly enjoyed doing and am beyond grateful I have been able to explore this passion.
Richmond Institute will benefit my future career goals in several ways. This course provides me with industry experience, allowing me to gain insights into the broader world of sports. This exposure is crucial for transitioning into future careers within the field. Additionally, the course is equipping me with valuable lessons, such as operational planning, work health and safety practices, and managing personal and professional practices. These learnings are essential for setting goals and understanding the key procedures required in the workplace. These valuable lessons assist in laying a solid foundation for my career growth and development in the sports industry.
